Does anyone know why the publishers put discount restrictions on for some countries but not others?
I was looking to buy a particular book today and tried to use a discount code but noticed it stated: "Due to publisher restrictions Promo codes are not allowed for this product. "
I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway and went to enter all my credit card and address details. When I changed the country to my country, the page refreshed and the message was gone. I tried the code again and it worked.
Why allow some people a discount and not others? All these global restrictions drive me mad! I am in the Asia/Pacific region and already we often cant get ebooks here until they've been out for ages in other countries. Now it seems we may be missing out on some discounts too. Yes, I got the discount this time, but how many times does it work the other way.
Its little wonder so many turn to pirate sites when publishers make it so hard to buy the books!
