MfgTool is in "Select Boot" thread, linked from the "simple debricking" sticky thread. It temporarliy sets the bootmode and boots to your choice of fastboot, main, or diags. It does not save the value, so a restart will go to whatever mode was last saved. You can change the bootmode and save it using fastboot, or diags.

Your custom screensavers might not be compatible with your firmware version. Newer firmware versions break older hacks, sometimes bricking kindles.

You can (almost) always debrick a K4 or K5 using instructions in the simple debricking thread.
