This is one of the reasons we're moving back to Thailand... You can live quite comfortably on $1,000 USD per month. One or two bedroom house/apartment rental, utilities, food, etc., and still have money left over to play with. And with a huge ex-pat population, plenty of folks your own age to play with! It is actually possible to eat three good meals a day and yet spend less than $5 (That's per day, not per meal...) But more realistically, a day's food will cost about $8... And that's eating at restaurants, not even home cooking!
