Well, if anyone was holding off on the Terry Spear book in the DANL 99 cent summer sale because it tried to eat a free book credit, having been a previous feature title, the DANL people fixed that so that now it just charges the regular sale price.

I went and bought all of the 99 cent titles on the grounds that they worked out to 50 cents after membership discount and the discover15 discount coupon for DRM-free multiformat and even if the setting didn't look interesting and/or plots didn't look cracktastic enough to appeal to my no-romo preferences (it takes a lot of extra stuff to get me interested in a regular category romance), most of the other authors had had freebie books at one point and I don't mind throwing half a buck at them pour encourager les autres freebie/deep-discount offers/sales from DANL and in general, even if one of them (My Unfair Lady) had already been offered as a Sony freebie previously.

I figure I've spent more money to worse effect on the campus cafeteria's overpriced salad bar (they charge per 100g, but have no notion of taring the container so its weight isn't included, and they use china plates ). I did skip the $1.19 ones on the grounds that I already had the interesting one from a 99 cent Kobo sale and while I'm willing to pay an extra 50 cents in a support the author/publisher move which gets me extra DRM-free formats, $1 is more than I'd spend on a re-buy, much less also invest in a reluctant cowboy stripper romance (mind you, I'm kind of morbidly curious now, but not more than 59 cents worth of morbidly curious).

This incidentally is the last day for the DANL $0.99-$1.99 sale, so if you haven't already gotten everything you wanted, well, you probably still have 5 shopping hours left.

Other publisher-direct romance offers that will also be expiring over the next week: Carina's 99 cent introductory specials for June, and Samhain's extra 30% off coupon on their featured monthly reads. There's a retro Harlequin Silhouette reprint romance in the latter which you can get for half-price through Monday.
