Solomon vs. Lord, by Paul Levine.
"The "Solomon vs. Lord" series has been nominated for the Edgar, International Thriller, Macavity and James Thurber awards" (quoted from Amazon listing)
Traditionally published Levine has offered for free all of his backlist Lassiter series at times over the last few months. With the exception of a couple of short stories, I don't think any of the Solomon vs. Lord series had been offered until relatively recently-- we've seen a couple of them in the last month of so. Today's novel is the first of the series: a comedic mystery legal thriller featuring a male lawyer who is willing to take chances & ignore standards (but not laws), while his opponent is a traditional straight-laced woman lawyer. Sparks fly as the two battle the legal case and their attraction to each other. Think Thin Man or the first season of the TV series Moonlighting, and you'll be in the ballpark.
Definitely worth reading-- I've been hoping this one would show up every since I saw the first Levine freebie.
