Competition is necessary. The Kindle has been greatly improved because of competition from Sony and BN. Amazon was pushed to get the Kindle conencted to the library because of the Nook, Sony, and Kobos connection to the library. Amazon has moved to a touch screen because of Sony, Nook, and Kobo. The Kindles price has massivly declined due to competition.

I am going to go out and by a Nook, Sony, or Kobo, I am very happy with my Kindle. But my Kindle experience has been improved because of competition.
