I think--as you probably guessed--I was joking (a little). This is still all so very new to most everyone. I can't see the average librarian, much less the average person, being tech savvy enough to really wrap their heads around the technology. I'm a very tech savvy kind of guy and I can't really understand all the machinery under the hood of Overdrive. I can piece it together and get a vague idea, but it still makes my brain hurt.

I finally--dutifully--jumped through all the hoops to make e-book library borrowing possible for me and I can attest to some high degree of aggravation during that process. Sure, borrowing is painless now that it's all 'installed', but if something 'goes wrong', I'm screwed till I figure it out again.
