You changed the View (Library or device)
You have put a Filter or search into use.
You switched Libraries (accidentally)
Don't do any fix attempt below without advice as it might reduce your chances of an easy full recovery
1) use the OS file manger to SEARCH (only) for metadata.db.
Do you find it more than 1? Do you see one with Authors named folders in the same folder? (chances just got lots better)
2) If the answer to #1 was more than 1 result: Note the containing folder (the Library) name. Use the Create/switch option of the Library Icon to select an
EXISTING Library at that location.
