Hi everyone,
I am new to the device (and the forum, although I have been lurking around quite some time), so I do not know if I am simply doing things the wrong way, but there are some features I am missing and I did not find them here on the forums.
Is there a way to "link" sketches/scribbles the way annotations are linked to the text of, say, a pdf file? Reading a lot of technical texts and doing calculations while doing so, it would be perfect to have the possibility of doing some handwriting without having to write into the document itself.
I am thinking of something like this:
- having marked a portion of text, the device opens a "scribble"-page half the size of the M92's display (if the markings are on top of the page, it will open it un the bottom, otherwise on the top). That way, you could still see the text you marked, but have the ability to write something down (especially useful for solving equations in, say, a math textbook).
- Like in the "annotation" tool, a button would be needed to accept the scribble or to cancel the process
- In case the user wants to keep the scribbles/sketch, the device could associate the marked part of the text with the scribbles and show them if needed.
Another thing I would highly appreciate is the option to copy some are of a document into the scribbling application. Something like the two-point zoom to determine the area that has to be copied and the possibility of inserting this into a scribble document would do the trick.
These features, along with an eraser option built into the stylus and different shades of grey that can be used for writing, would be immensely useful and would probably allow the M92 to gain a lot of customers in the academic sector. Being able to write everything down in a lecture (with different "colours") and linking your (handwritten) work with textbooks is probably the main unfulfilled request with regard to ebook devices. Once these flaws are sorted out, I do not see any reason not to promote usage of those devices in higher education.
Is there anything that is already available and does this? Otherwise, please regard this post as a feature request.
