Hi All,

Newbie here. Nice to meet y'all. Hope you can help with this.

I scan a book to .doc or .rtf, open in Word, then save as "Web Page Filtered (*htm, *.html)" Then open in Calibre and convert to .epub. This works well for the most part except that punctuation marks, apostrophes and some other punctuation are replaced by "wingding" type characters such as a dark diamond shape w/white question mark inside. Although it is not precisely the Windging font in Word, if that means anything.

How to correct this? And I am not sure where I got the idea to save as filtered html before adding to Calibre. Would it be better just to import the .rtf directly?
