Probably the easiest way to put your book onto your friend's iPad is to email it to her at her Kindle for iPad address. She can find what it is by opening the app and it's in the settings somewhere (sorry, I don't have my iPad with me at the moment).
From memory you can make notes on a book in the iPad app.
