Agree. I wouldn't take my T1 out anywhere without being in a case of some sort...
A case and a silicone cover serve completely different purposes. For me, the silicone cover is an incredibly inexpensive and easy-to-remove alternative to a DecalGirl skin (I can get all four colors of silicone covers for the price of a single DecalGirl skin). That it offers a negligible amount of protection to the device by making it non-skid and offering a tiny bit of cushion, is just gravy.

One could argue that the Sony cover is somewhat flimsy and isn't going to protect your reader in <insert scenario here> and therefor you should get a "real" case like a <insert name of case here>.

Use a case, use a skin, surround your reader in twelve inches of foam, use your reader naked... whatever. It's a $100 device that's reasonably fragile. Use your discretion on protecting or not protecting your investment.
