Thank you for the link. I was browsing through the listings and came across a book that I thought, hmm, only $1.99... good book to run a test on! I bought it and downloaded it, or so I thought, because my Kindle for PC didn't show it, only downloading up to a point. Maybe it is listing too many books. I'd love to delete books from it but I'm not sure Amazon wouldn't say "what happened to those free books? Well, here are new copies for you!" And also I can't move them into files because it keeps note of everything in one huge, huge page...

Anyhow, I know where Amazon dumps ebooks on my computer and I copied everything new that had landed there into another partition and let Calibre have at 'em. Actually, Calibre froze up, so I updated it (it had been some time), and then it worked fine.

The book I bought turned up there -- hooray! I saved it and all the others as epubs and have backed them up (this is why I don't need them on Kindle for PC forever).

So you not only turned me on to a good sale, you helped me make the leap to buying an ebook from Amazon
