Maybe you could try going on your browser to appbrain and load their app then using their app load apps via their site. It works for free apps at least I have done so.

Until you get the market sorted you could also download .apk files and with your NC connected to your computer load the .apk and install programs that way.

The first program I would get is E S file explorer which allows easy LAN wireless connection to your PC and just double clicking an .apk file will load it on your nook.
