Having enjoyed the George Gently UK TV police shows a lot, my interest was alerted when recieving this months catalogue from a kind of book club I have used for years - The Book People, here in UK.
Excellent for physboks, especially the odd "star " ref work, I still buy from them occassionally when it's the only option.

This month they were offering all 10 George Gently (a cop) novels, a series began in 1955. - police procedural/slightly cosy/UK policing /crime.

The price for all 10 in paperback, £10-99.
Amazon price kindle edition - £4-79 each.

I mean, what is the point ?

[ They are also offering all 6 of the Orange Prize shortlist for a total of £20 in physbooks.
The difference here is not as great, but still beats the digital, just.]

To be honest, if you expect to find what Martin Shaw portrays in the tv series you are in for a huge disappointment.
The televised series only vaguely resemble the books starting from the toal absence of Bacchus whom I really dislike.
Being an avid reader and one of the biggest collectors in Europe if not the world of Martin-related items I enjoy both, but better warn you.
