I just don't bother buying e-books if they're not already on sale/couponable or otherwise time-limited deep-discounted when I get them.

I'm perfectly okay with reading paper, live near several fairly well-stocked libraries, the used bookshops in my area are still in reasonably good shape despite the usual economic woes, and I have enough paid-for-but-unread purchases already stocked up that unless something is really, really compelling*, I don't feel the need to spend money on it Right Now.

* For "compelling", read "dirt cheap, or at least the cheapest I'm likely to see it for a long while, or likely to go out of print Real Soon Now in the case of certain specialty print-published non-fiction/foreign language/graphic novel works". Stuff that merely "looks good and I think I'd like to try it someday" is just "interesting" until the price hits the sweet spot.
