My daughter has started an internship at a hospital near to work so she commutes with me. I had to sit there while the book talked about near-sex experiences including discussion of the "..the strawberry shaped wet patch on my panties". It was awkward. At the moment I have no privacy with my Kindle books or audio-books.

You need Headphones! I love Molly Harper! Now see I have no problems with anyone knowing I read romances or even 50 Shades books but listening to one out loud with people around would turn my face red. Some of those love scenes are too funny or outrageous to hear out loud. I've gotten use to it but I use headphones. I use a Sansa Zip Clip for my Audibles. I use my Kindles for reading.
It's bad enough my mother and sister both jaws dropped when they picked up a Lori Foster book for me and decided to skim through it.

It's also a good thing I don't have company ever rarely because the first thing you see when you walk into a living room is hundreds of romances stack on shelves.
My suggestion is if really bothers you. Get a second account and use it to buy from. Have the books sent to Kindle for PC then remove the drm of the books and sideload them then no one but you would see them then.
The Audibles is more tricky to hide.
