Yes the screen can get smudged if your fingers have grease or something sticky on them. And of course all fingers have some oil so over time the screen will get a bit smudged. I just wipe mine down periodically. But for the most part I don't notice the smudges while reading.
All reading involves some hand & or finger movement whether turning a paper page, clicking on a button or tapping a screen. You get used to whichever you are doing.
And no I don't frequently interact with the my reader accidentally.
I think you'll like your Kindle Touch once you get used to the differences. Just remember it took a bit of getting used to buttons when you went to your first reader from paper.
