The Tab is definitely the better buy, a much quicker tablet with a LOT of extra features. It runs Honeycomb and Samsung has confirmed they will be rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich to the Tabs shortly, they just haven't given the dates yet.
PS: I figured you might have a PC and just wanted something portable to take notes in class. I imagine you could also record (with a Tab, not the Vox) if you were close enough to the lecturer.
And yes, Swiftkey is great! Specially for smaller hands.
