That all depends on how you want to sort your library. I have about 26,000 files and divide them into 20 or so libraries. I keep fanfic separated by fandoms, and others separated by genre.

I have Science Fiction-Fantasy-Supernatural and Urban Fantasy in one, and Westerns, Romance-Erotica, textbooks and others in different libraries.

I find the program gets a little slow for me about 8,000 in a library, but could go with more.

So it just depends on how you want to divvy up your collection.
