I haven't seen a weaker wifi signal as reported by
Gondolkodo but I have left wifi on during the last few days since I upgraded to 4.1.0, & the battery indicator hasn't moved much, so possibly Amazon has tweaked the radio to reduce power consumption?
Could you perhaps both try leaving on wifi for a few days to see if in fact you could live with that, assuming you can charge Kindle at reasonable intervals?
I think you both upgraded the firmware, yes?
It may be possible to swap the menu positions of "Shop in Kindle Store" with "Settings" to save some keypressing, but I haven't yet looked at that in detail.
