Someone should train Malaysian call centres about remote Australia!
Yesterday there were bush fires in the area (NT) and last night we couldn't get through to the store by phone. 2&2 together probably damage to the optic fibre cable. So I dials in to the store computer via the satellite to check there is not power outage or anything. Satellite worky fine. all checks done and everyone east of the line can phone each other, but not get out. More symptoms pointing to fire damage on the cable. Easy so far...
So because I am the only person that can contact the outside world, given that I am in it, I try to log a fault with Telstra. The local police have sent a message pleease log a call for them too.
I think maybe I have finally logged a call. The call centre people keep wanting the phone numbers so they can talk to the people whose phones are cut off. I tell them many times they cannot log their own call because THE PHONES ARE CUT OFF FROM TOWN! What is wrong with these people? You can't phone in to log a fault if your phone does not access the outside world. I try to explain the situation to two different people. It is affecting about 500 phones. they need to call in!
