Ok, just tried my own advice, it worked.
My system: Linux Mint 12 (based on the Ubuntu package archives) -
Plus: I already had the LXDE desktop manager installed and selected as default.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install e17
Now log out of your current desktop, which will take you back the to X11 "greeter" (that login screen thing).
Depending on which greeter your running, you will find a "session type" selection thing (often a drop down box).
Select Enlightenment, then login
When E17 starts up for the first time, it will give you some selection lists -
If lost or intimidated -
Pick English, Debian, Standard and be sure to include the "configuration" icon.
Have fun.
When done, log out, re-select your usual desktop manager, log back in -
Now you are back to your "normal" desktop manager.
All you've lost is a bit of time and a chunk of disk space.
