Of course there is a big size difference, but you can get a watch that has a solar sensitive band or bezel or both that will charge a battery and run the watch. I have seen them somewhere. It was a sportsman watch for the outdoors where it would get the sun, but seemingly (as I remember vaguely) it would store an adequate charge for some days.

Similar in function I guess is the pendulum (mechanical) automatic watches like Seiko has. They store enough energy for days of no movement.
