We don't about the K3/KK and KF8. But from what we've read, Amazon has said KF8 will be supported on current generation Kindles and there's a good chance that the K3/KK being the previous generation isn't going to get KF8. That said, if the K3/KK does not get KF8 it will still be able to handle Mobi. Amazon will still support it with Mobi. But it will not get the advanced formatting features of KF8.

Right now, the only eink Kindle that supports KF8 is the Touch. To be honest, if you do go for a Kindle, get the Touch. You'll love the touch screen (IMHO).
