Yes, my Kindle lost connection to the local router for a few days (the router's fault) and the rebooting stopped. I finally logged it into the router again and the rebooting started again.
Since those with small libraries don't have the issue, I don't think it is only related to checking for updates (which the wifi enabled ones generally only do on wifi), but there is definitely some code that runs only when on wifi that causes the problem.
