I'm not at all great with fiddly electronics, but I found changing the 505's battery fairly easy. You just need a little patience and to not have all thumbs and it should be easily doable. The ribbon cable was no trouble at all for me, it was more of a chore to make sure everything lined up so the that the casing would slide back on easily. It took a couple of tries, but I wouldn't class it as difficult, just a bit finicky.
