Like others said, I think you would be ok with the new iPad of previous iPad2 model.

They are fast enough for reading PDFs and you can install the B&N or Kindle app, allowing you access to both online stores without having to mess with DRM protection and encryption.

By the way, the word is "ereader" or tablet, not "ebook". ;-)
