Resetting it back to defaults had the same effect.

I can access and read stuff downloaded off Amazon (my archive), even if the drive is not formatted. On formatting, the Amazon books are wiped out, so they're there somewhere? Whatever I transfer to the device via USB doesn't show up on the screen.
