Proving more difficult than I thought. Should have posted it in one of the SF threads, methinks ().

Here's where we are, with clues for the missing ones:

1. Solunarians (a 17th/18th Century English author and one of the founders of the modern novel, much more famous for a non-SF novel)

2. Tralfamadorians - Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse-Five" - poohbear (2 points +1 for Ms Wildhack)

3. Athsheans (She is an American author, and these aliens are from her Hainish science fiction series)

4. Drac (are intelligent reptilian hermaphrodites with a complex religious system and a holy book called the Talman).

5. Vogons - Douglas Adams's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". - Stitchawl (2)

6. Byrum (imagined by a prolfifc author from Maine)

7. Overlords - Arthur C. Clarke’s "Childhood’s End" - Hamlet53 (2)

8. Fithp (from a pair of well known authors of mostly hard SF)

9. Ythrians (this author was born on November 25, 1926, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and his daughter is married to science fiction author Greg Bear).

10. Hroshii - Robert A. Heinlein’s "** **** *****" - poohbear (1)
