So of course Harlequin, being Canadian, has a Francophone division. And said Francophone division is offering at least two works free for a limited time (actually some others, but these particular ones are about to expire Real Soon Now and I've still got to head out to do some banking and downtown supply-picking-up stuff today, so I'll post the DRM-free maybe-permafreebie ones later).
On Harlequin's Francophone shopping site (available to Canadians and other members of La Francophonie, which is the French-speaking equivalent of the Commonwealth), you can find the following two books in translation from their English editions (they had more, but their site search/display is really messed up right now and won't spit up results I know should be there), some also having had a corresponding freebie English edition should you want to practice either language.
L'étrange secret de Finley Jayne by Kady Kross is a translation of the steampunk romance
The Strange Case of Finley Jane, which was
free in a number of venues as an Anglophone HQN promo earlier.
This will only be free @
Harlequin.fr "jusqu'au 20 mai", which may be interpreted as "until" or "through", depending on how you want to read it, so you have either 4 or 28 hours to pick it up if interested.
Over on the sidebar under "E-books gratuit", they are also offering a presumably longer-lasting freebie:
Troublant tête-à-tête by Lucy Monroe, which is one of those contemporary awkward guy-you-had-an-argument-with-and-secret-crush-upon reluctantly-thrown-together-by-circumstances quasi-reunion romances.
Free @
Harlequin.fr for who knows how long, but presumably for longer than the next 4-28 hours.
All downloads are Adobe DRM-ePub and if you're having difficulty finding the downloads section, it's under "Mes commandes" under the shopping cart icon and you click on an order number to bring up the books.
