I have had three Kindles and no screen problems. The screens are fragile, something that some folks don't get. They toss them around freely, don't use covers, and carry them in backpacks filled with heavy objects and then wonder why the screen broke.

Amazon has been very generous with providing replacement Kindles for broken screens free of charge even though it is not covered under their warranty. Amazon has also replaced broken Kindles free of charge or at a discounted price after the warranty has run out.
