I would definitely pick a Pocket PC rather than a Tablet PC, unless you have the necessary cash, of course. You can record the lectures with a Pocket PC, but also take notes, read books, surf the net, read&write mails, listen to MP3s (or the lectures), watch videos, and so much more - and when you don't need it, you just put it in your pocket! A notebook is too big to lug around from class to class - a smaller sub-notebook rather expensive. If you go with the MP3 option, don't bother buying an Ipod AND the griffin italk or belkin voice recorder, just buy an MP3 player that has a built-in voice recorder - many of them have one built-in nowadays - I wonder when Apple is going to get it!! Same goes for the flash-based ones - they often have a built-in voice recorder and are cheaper. BUT: I would recommend a Pocket PC, because you can do sooooo much with it. I wish I would have had one when I went to college!
