The "guest" thing is puzzling. I'm connecting to a comcast router from a Galaxy Tab 10.1, and it shows me the router name and that I am connected. It doesn't say anything about "guest." I wonder if the guest designation has something to do with your Windows Homegroup, rather than the router itself.

At the risk of repeating what you've already told us...have you tried connecting to Calibre from your tablet -- not from Aldiko, but from a browser on your tablet? If you can do that, then there's a problem in your setup in Aldiko. If you can't do that, then the problem is something else.
