Thanks for the link PeterT, hadn't seen that post. My problem was that I had hit the 7500 limit on the .Kobo\Images folder. I have just over 1300 books loaded. For every book cover Kobo creates five image files of various sizes. Plus there were around 1200 old image files from books that I never had installed on my KT. This put me well over the 7500 limit (why this limit exists I don't know). Following the suggestions from mconh in the link, I ran his .bat file which removes two of the five image files from each cover. I also deleted the spurious 1200 covers and my book covers now show up perfectly on my KT.
