What you are missing is the fact that eReaders (my Kindle for example) are used for browsing the Web. Newspapers. Online magazines. Manuals. Maps All sorts of things. True I have a Galaxy Tablet but not with me at all times. I keep the Kindle with me 100% of the time because it has 3G which I admit might not be available in a newer Kindle. Still I would snatch up a color Kindle especially with a lit screen and a SD card before you could say "lickety-split."

We don't need video or flash. We don't need 64K shades of color. Just a modicum of color would do fine.
+1. When it arrives (some time in the distant future) I hope the screen will be bigger than 6". 8" is just about perfect. And full Android, to make reading websites and newspapers easier. Although Amazon will probably not do that to try to tie you into their store.
