Given that their second quarter profit for 2012 was $11.6 billion, yes it is.
In that quarter iTunes generated $1.4 billion of revenue, or just under 6% of total revenue for the quarter.
Content sales are profitable, and I don't think Apple would run them as a loss-leader, but they aren't what drives the company, hardware sales are.
