I didn't read a lot of books I had to read for both French and Dutch in Secondary school. In my opinion the reading lists for those two classes were designed to dissuade people to read books for themselves.

The last time I lied about reading a book was at university when we had to read Jane Eyre during exam/handing in reports and essays times. I simply didn't have enough time. I did get the book on tape and listened to whilst writing my placement report.

I never tell people I've read books I haven't read and I never lie about books I have read. I don't see the point in doing that.
