Dunno about other readers, but the different generation Sony ones I know about, and they are pretty skimpy - OK for quick checks, but not very good in their "foreign" versions IMO. The "American - English" one is extremely erratic, I've found.
On the other hand, Wiktionary's good, and pretty up to date, and available in most major languages, free of course, along with many more.

Thanks would Wiktionary or an added translation dictionary still enable you to swipe a word in a book e.g. in Dutch, and obtain the translation in English?
