Since Harry's character was created with a mix of attributes from Jim Butcher's favorite fictional private detectives (Holmes and Spenser) and wizards (Merlin and Gandalf), considering what you just said, it seems to me that it is unlikely that you'll like any of the Harry Dresden books for those very same reasons.
