No idea if it will help, but you might try this: turn off the Fire (hold the on/off button until a message comes up asking if you want to turn it off, and tap "yes."), and then charge it overnight.
Some say the light turning to green does not necessarily mean it is fully charged. Give it at least four hours.
When you say it won't charge, do you mean the battery icon on the top does not show full charge, or that it will not turn on?
It may take several charges before the battery icon behaves properly.
