Kookie, one thing springs to mind - are you sure that your PE is charged? A flat battery would give the symptoms you are seeing.
There is one way to check that your battery is being charged but it requires the use of a volt meter. With the meter set to a range that will display 12volts and the charger plugged in to the mains check the voltage at the plug to the PE - centre hole is positive and outer shell is negative. It should read 12volts. If it doesn't then you have a faulty charger and your battery is most probably flat.
Another thing, the blinking cursor is a small line in the top LEFT of the screen.
