Everyone hates Sony's software. The horrible "update" transformed a borderline annoying-but-workable app into an even more annoying thing that takes umpteen minutes just to start on my not-that-decrepit Mac mini, much less load up the library list before it even allows me to go and switch to the store panel.
The Reader app is so irritating that if it weren't for the fact that I got one "free" via that credit card promotion with a bonus cashback rebate, I wouldn't shell out any amount of money for any of Sony's actual Reader device products.
But as it is, my shiny new PRS-T1 has now arrived and looks pretty nifty*, so maybe now I can avoid using their horrible software and pick up the freebies more directly. At least the ones which are officially available to Canadians.
* So tiny! So light! Changeable fonts! Proper ePub support! Can take horribly illegible chickenscratch notes with the stylus instead of having to navigate the balky keyboard of the K2!
I can almost forgive Sony their horrible computer software now. But not quite.
