There is always that, but there isn't anything inherent to e-Ink itself that would make it unique to any other gadget. The panel itself saves power because current only needs to flow through it during a refresh. When you put the device to sleep, the only current flowing is to keep the RAM 'fresh'. The EM generated by a sleeping reader should actually be the same or less than your average digital alarm clock unless the reader woke up to do something over WiFi.
