Although I'm not familiar with Win7, I do know that XP had several ways to increase font size (as well as icon size) without changing the resolution of the screen. On the 'Display Properties' screen (right click on the desktop,) there is one way right on the first screen, then if you look at 'Effects' and 'Advanced' from that screen there are more.
