Well, some of those Heechee e-books can be bought
from the Baen store, for what was a fairly reasonable $4 per title when the special introductory discount bundle* price was still active (and now $5 separately for DRM-free MultiFormat available worldwide).
The problem is convincing whoever's currently sitting on the remaining rights for the rest of the titles (apparently not the nonagenarian author) to allow them to bring out the rest for an affordable price. Until then, it's the darknet for you, me hearties!
* Pohl's autobiography in that bundle, by the way, is excellent.
