It's also indication how much less they produce now. If it's never been upgraded, there's no loss - you still get 3000 for 6 points (for example) even at level 13, but if you upgraded it and got 7000 for 8 points for a while, then at higher levels it's output will gradually revert to 3000. You still have to pay 8 points.

Some assets are worth to be constantly upgraded, but some I let be and some (upgraded) I regretfully sold.

IIRC this problem appeared around level 10 or 9 - just when I felt happy with my new reactors. Baen doesn't make it easy, all that calculating makes my brain steam.

PS. Thank you all for the bliss, I could still use some more. Only regret that I now don't have many gifts to send your way, as I've been redeeming them.
