Yep this is what I do. If you have used Calibre to update the metadata with the description of your books, you can get it to show at the start of each book when it's on your Kindle by going to Preferences > Change Calibre behaviour > Conversion > Common Options > Structure Detection and ticking the box next to 'Inser metadata as page at start of book'.

Once you've done that, convert the book from mobi to mobi and then when you load that book onto your Kindle, the description will be there on the first page of your book.
