You can use the Kobo Touch browser to get your library books wirelessly fairly easily, as well as your own library (locally) from Calibre if you use it as your catalogue.
I also find the Sony touch-screen slightly more responsive but the Kobo is OK, my daughter has one and loves it.
Kobo is at $99.99 right now in Canada + a free gel-skin for Mother's Day. Perhaps they have a similar offer on the UK Site right now?
