This is logical and factual nonsense.
A couple of months back you knew exactly what to expect from Ectaco firmware-wise - and you were one over-enthusiastic customer ...

Who says I was?
I never said I had any official data, I was merely saying we could expect a delay, expecting it to be released by the end of april rather than at the beginning.
I saw that the goal ectaco put to itself into releasing the fw by the beginning of april was not achievable.
then again,
there's always april 1 2013, if you want it to be released on april 1...
It seems you have very little experience in engineering. If you would have, you would know that a deadline usually means that under normal circumstances, without delays or issues, the soonest you can get a product ready is by the deadline. In this case however, the previous fw (march) was delayed already, on top of that it had many unexpected minor bugs, and a few major bugs to be corrected, meaning extra work, but from a view of firmware, still was a very solid firmware.
I've seen a lot worse than this, especially from chinese products.
From the communications I received from Greg, I've heard that the fw is going through a lot more than just adding a browser and language pack. They're also rebuilding and optimizing it. The end result will be way more than what you paid for!
If you ask me, it will be well worth the wait; but in any case, complaining is not going to make you get the firmware sooner. There are a lot of enthusiasts who have this device who agree with me,to rather wait for a good one, than have a broken one now.
And such is also the company's policy. Unfortunately for most of you, complainers (who often don't even have the device), Ectaco did not play by your rules. Best is to just lie down and play by their rules, or buy another device if you think there's anything on the market that can compete with the JBC at this time!
Another thing, they are not doing FW issues only, also educational software updates. Their main responsibility is the schools, not the end user as a customer.
I don't think I'm an over-enthusiastic customer, merely a rational one, that doesn't give in to emotions to lead my conclusions about a product.
